Brought to Conference by My SonWhen I was about 38, as a backslider, I began to have a spiritual problem because of some things I read in the Word, and some things I had done. I went to Christians who seemed to be spiritual to try to get help but received none. My pastor and the other pastors did their best but couldn't help. I went this way about nine years. It was very traumatic. Near the end of this time, I heard on the radio that there's a God-shaped vacuum in every one of us that can only be filled by God. I wanted this. One day I spontaneously said to the Lord, “Lord, You've punished me double, isn't that enough?” Soon after, my oldest son came back to the Lord and was brought to a little conference in Sacramento. He invited us to go with him and we went expecting nothing. I didn't particularly like the meeting but I couldn't deny my inner feeling that there was some hope for me. After the conference I kept going to the meetings until one day, while enjoying a song, someone said, “We call Lord Jesus from deep within and He comes in.” I tried this, and He came in! What joy! God now lives in me! I was finally rescued by God's mercy! I'm now 76 years of age and love more and more the Lord who had mercy on me. I love the ministry of Watchman Nee and Witness Lee because it always shepherds me closer to the Lord, helping me to go on with Him day by day and moment by moment. I didn't stay in the local church blindly. When I had a question about what was said, I always checked it out with the Word. I've always been well satisfied that it was the truth. I'm now serving the Lord with some practical things, some gospel preaching and some caring for other Christians. D.W.R. | Back to List |
